Silkie Chickens are very broody. Want her to not just stay in the coop all day, then get? her a fertilized egg to sit on :) She will be happy to be its mommy :) Silkies don't care if the egg is from a normal sized hen, the silkie will still raise it as her own.

Love watching your video's~ you put them together so well! I also put a lot of $ into building my coup & fencing & feeding, and now my girls are getting a bit lazy about laying eggs! I think they must be around 3 years old (got them from? a friend), so its probably time to get some chicks & fence my whole yard so the older ones can free range of the place... I know they want to, i can see it in their chicken eye's~~;)

@geraldnaruto Our chickens are pets, so we have? no plans to eat them. They'll live out a long life, and we'll just get a new flock of younger chickens to give us eggs :)

Congratulations Bex! We are going to be rescuing some chickens at the Sanctuary where I work. Most of? us are vegan though, so not sure if we can stomach the eggs, but it is such a great idea. Grow your own food - YES!

Do you guys only eat the eggs? When i used to live with my father, he would also eat the chicken because it was gonna die and go to waste so better eat it first. chickens? only live for a certain amount of time so i do recommend making a chicken soup before they die lol. ohh and don't name them lol if you plan to eat don't name lol my father used to do that and every time we said grace he would say : 'Lets thank Lucy and god for the awesome meal XD.

Lets just say I build allot of stuff and just wanted to let you know that you would be more than OK to use 2x4s for all the structural stuff for the coops, they are cheaper than? 4x4s and more than strong enough.

Cool coop! I'm in the process of building mine. I am curious how you can tell if you have a rooster. We have 3 chicks used to have 4. Bad dog! One of the chicks developed a cockscomb pretty early and it's tail feathers seem shorter than the other girls. But then one of the? hens keeps standing up to cockscomb and they do this little airial dance. I don't know what's up.
